About the Women of Zion Lutheran Church

The women of Zion are active in many and varied roles in the life of our church.  Here is a list of some of the things we do:

• Take turns caring for the communion ware and changing altar cloths as needed.
• Provide food for any church functions requesting a time of fellowship and food such as funerals and special events.
• Support the children’s education program with funds as needed.
• Collect an offering at our annual Christmas party and donate it to a location decided by those in attendance.  Examples have been the nearby Basic Care     Facility for emergency needs or special projects, individuals in the community with extreme medical expenses, programs for individuals in crisis, etc.
• Participate in the ELCA Thanksgiving service by leading worship and collecting money.  In addition, we conduct a food drive for the food pantry that Zion runs.
• Remember with cards all members who are hospitalized, in care centers, or simply in need of a word of cheer or sympathy.
• Support Lutheran World Relief quilt, personal care kits, baby, school, and fabric kits.  Information can be found at Lutheran World Relief (lwr.org) under the “Get   Involved” tab.
• Provide Biles to children and homemade quilts to high school graduates.
• Engage in a Prayer Partner program where we remember a certain individual all year with prayer, cards, and an occasional small gift.  Our identity is revealed at   an annual Christmas program.
• Rotate with other churches in Kulm to sponsor World Day of Prayer and guest events every 4th year.
