WELCA

(Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America)

WELCA Purpose

As a community of women created in the image of God, called to discipleship in Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves to grow in faith, affirm our gifts, support one another in our callings, engage in ministry and action, and promote healing and wholeness in the church, the society and the world..

What we do

WELCA is a women’s ministry organization of the ELCA.  Zion WELCA is the body of women responsible for policies, decisions, and official business as it pertains to the women of the church.  Elected positions include president, secretary, and treasurer.

Bible studies and business meetings are held monthly, except during the winter months of January, February, and March.  Bible studies are taken from the “Gather” magazine.  We read the material, have meaningful discussions, and learn from one another.

Stewardship is a high priority for Zion WELCA.  We have the privilege of supporting several charities through regular donations.

Zion WELCA also has a voting member on the church council.  This position is typically filled by the WELCA president.
